There are dozens of amazing experiences to get under your belt after taking a ferry from Downtown Vancouver to Victoria. Butchart Gardens
If you are in Victoria in the summer, there are thousands of beautiful flowers to take in as you walk through the garden. Even in winter, you can often find breathtaking holiday displays. Admission isn’t free but you can find not only magnificent plants but wonderful dining options and fun experiences for the whole family. If you stop in around Christmas, you can enjoy some ice skating or take in a concert.
Chinatown
The Chinatown located in Victoria is the oldest in the country and only the second oldest globally, after San Francisco. There are plenty of cheap restaurants, along with ships filled with interesting trinkets and gifts. If you want a cheaper option, just walking the streets is fantastic for getting in some time people watching.
Fairmont Empress Hotel
Everyone should visit the Fairmont Empress at least once. You can stop in for afternoon high tea and enjoy pastries, tea sandwiches, and sweets, or just take in the hotel itself. If you visit, make sure to check out the view from the tea room off the harbor. It’s something that you won’t see anywhere else. The hotel also has a spa, dining, and hosts events.
Museums
There are many museums available to peruse after you take the ferry from Downtown Vancouver to Victoria. You can visit the Royal British Columbia Museum to learn the history of the area, or visit the Maritime Museum for a focus on marine history. Victoria also boasts Miniature World, Robert Bateman Center, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the Avenue Gallery, and the Costume Museum, among others.
Shopping
If you want to get some shopping in while visiting Victoria, there are various areas to check out. You can find unique shops in Downtown Victoria as well as on Government Street. You can also visit the outdoor markets at Bastion Square and Market Square, both open during the summer months.
